Mid Sweden University has recently announced a major investment in DigiLab, a new lab environment for research, education and collaboration in AI and digital transformation. With an initial investment of SEK 16 million, an infrastructure is being built that gives students practical experience of modern AI techniques and researchers the opportunity to take on more complex and computationally intensive challenges.
We at GDM are proud to be the project’s central technical partner.
Our mission is to configure the new infrastructure and develop user support for both researchers and external collaborators.
DigiLab is built around powerful GPU servers integrated with edge computing resources, a completely local solution that strengthens security, integrity and development speed.
– Being involved in building this environment feels extremely important, both for the region’s skills supply and for the companies that want to accelerate their AI transition. Together with Mid Sweden University, we are creating a platform where academia and industry meet to develop the solutions of the future , says Niklas Hagberg, GDM

The initiative is a strategic part of Mid Sweden University’s work to strengthen both research and education in AI. In autumn 2025, the new education programs “Automation with AI” and “Applied AI” will start, where DigiLab will be an important resource.
